Puppy linux with seti boinc11/20/2023 I think several users in the community would appreciate if you could elaborate and post a STEP by STEP instructions as the one I've posted before. It looks very easy for a person with some experience in Linux, but for a newbie and I'm talking about a person who just download a copy of Linux about 25 days ago for the first time in his life, it sounds like brain surgery. Thanks for your tip, but as a newbie I've no idea in how to add a line to crontab, etc. All the instructions I found to date about installing and running Seti on Linux appears to be tailored for Linux experts. Please go to Lamatriz to download the original script if you have any problems.Īgain if someone can please add / clarify this document it will be very much appreciated. Somehow I'm unable to post the script properly as the Forum page keeps changing the Enconding, thus turning double quotes into a's, etc. I'm not sure if this is related to my Linux distribution or if its by design (sorry, but I'm a new Linux user with about 30 days experience in Linux at the most). In my personal experience I was also unable to start Boinc without being signed on as root. IMPORTANT NOTE: It appears that all the steps need to be performed while signed on as root (su). Yyyyyyyyy is the project key associated with your account. If you wish to attach another project to your Boinc Client just use the following commands: If you are in doubt just use the 'ps -A' command and check the list again. $ ln -s /etc/init.d/boinc /etc/rc2.d/S99boincĭone that we can now reboot the machine and Seti at home will start automatically. The next step is creating a symbolic link by typing the following command: If you see them it means that you are now running Seti in your box. Look for two processes labelled 'setiathome_4.02' and 'boinc' in the list. The last command above 'ps -A' will show a list of all the processes running on your Linux box. If we want to revise this file we just need to use the following command:Īt this point, after we have saved the script above, we'll make the script an executable and run it to make sure it works by typing the commands below: Note that the script points to a file labelled boinc.log which will be saved inside /opt/BOINC. Then copy the following script into the text editor window: Using Kate, Gedit or any other text editor we'll create an archive named boinc in /etc/init.d: by typing the following command: As mentioned before this process is suitable to a Debian based Linux. Wait for the Boinc Client to complete the process of attaching to your account and when you notice that it's processing a Seti Unit cancel the program by hitting Ctrl+C, so we can proceed with the next step of the setup.ĥ - Now its time to create the script. Where xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is your alpha-numeric account key. boinc -attach_project xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx $ chmod +x boinc_5.2.4_i686-pc-linux-gnu.shĤ - The first execution of Boinc will be done manually and during this process we'll configure our Boinc Client. Now we will change the archive permission as an executable and delete the original Boinc Client by using the following commands: Mv boinc_5.2.4_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh /opt/ģ - Since the last command above was 'cd /opt' you should be sitting inside the /opt folder. Open the Shell Prompt where you downloaded your Boinc Client to and type the following: Just remember to also change the script file if you do so. You can adapt the instructions if you wish to install it to a different location. I will follow the original document and use the /opt folder. The latest version as of is: boinc_5.2.4_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh and it can be found here: Boinc ClientĢ - After saving the Boinc client to your machine copy it to a folder of your choice. So here we go, straight to the point now:įirst you need to have a Boinc account such as:ġ - Download the last Boinc Client Sofware for Linux. My Spanish language skills are not the best, but I think the translation will be good enough to help the new Linux users out there having difficulties installing Seti. If you can read Spanish the original instructions are available here: Having said that it would be very nice if someone could complement these instructions and add more STEP by STEP details for a script which would work on Mandriva, Suse etc. I'm using Mandriva 2006 and I need to start my Seti Client manually after each reboot. According to the original instructions the script was tailored to a Debian based Linux. The instructions below worked for me, with the exception of the Script file. Here is my translation into English of this document. When I was about to give up I found this well written documentation in Spanish. I've been looking for a step by step BOINC installation instructions tailored to a new Linux user such as myself for a very long time.

Launchbar idle11/20/2023 In 2014, LaunchBar 6 was released with a redesigned interface, additional indexing rules and built-in actions, live web searches and usage statistics. In response, LaunchBar was changed to display its window at the center of the screen, below the menu bar. In 2005, Apple introduced Spotlight, which took over LaunchBar's default position at the top-right corner of the screen. It was ported to Mac OS X in 2001 as LaunchBar 3. LaunchBar began as a series of shell scripts for the NeXTSTEP platform, then migrated to OPENSTEP where it was developed into a full-fledged application. LaunchBar is distributed as crippleware shareware - full usage of the application requires paying the registration fee, but up to 7 abbreviations may be used per session without paying anything.Īccording to user interface researcher Bruce Tognazzini, "LaunchBar should be able to outperform a visual interface for complex, repetitive switching sequences by an expert user". Cada menú documentado abajo indica con cuál tipo de ventana está asociada esta. En Windows y Linux, cada una tiene su propio menú principal. Es posible tener múltiples ventanas de edición simultáneamente. LaunchBar also provides capabilities beyond application launching, such as file management and piping the current selection to a command line utility, along with clipboard management and a built-in calculator. IDLE tiene dos tipos de ventana principales, la ventana del shell y la ventana del editor. For example, after training, Adobe Photoshop may be launched by simply typing 'pho' and Time Machine can be opened by typing 'tm' even though that sequence of characters does not appear anywhere in the name of the application. However if we try to run it from start menu, nothing happens. Currently as a workaround we can call it via cmd using the python shell. LaunchBar is a small Windows freeware program that mimics the behavior of the dockable QuickLaunch toolbar that was available in all Windows versions before Windows 7. Everything works fine except the IDLE interpreter. It uses an adaptive algorithm that 'learns' a user's preferred abbreviations for a particular application. currently we have an MSIX package deployed for python 3.9 on Windows 10 via app attach (vhd stage and register). It provides access to user's applications and files, by entering short abbreviations of the searched item's name. In previous versions of LaunchBar, actions were written in AppleScript. With LaunchBar 6, any scripting language can be used, but the preferred language is JavaScript. Heathergems11/19/2023 The original company was established in a small factory in East Kilbride and began producing Heathergems in the spring of 1970. The board decided that Kerr’s project was not viable, so Buyers put his own money behind Heathergems. In 1969, Kerr met Charles Buyers, a Glasgow accountant, who was looking for craft industries to set up in the Highlands as a project for the then Highlands and Islands Development Board, which was seeking to boost employment. But one of the men involved, Hugh Kerr, a craftsman from Glenlivet, developed the process using heather stems and started making Heathergems in very small quantities in his own workshop. The process was expensive and, as a result, the business did not last. The smaller branches were collected and compressed into a block from which they cut flooring tiles. At the time, wood was being rationed after the Second World War, and a group of men in East Kilbride near Glasgow started a business making flooring tiles from beech wood branches. Heathergems has a factory shop and visitor centre in Pitlochry and a website where viewers can see and order the products. The full range of Heathergems jewellery and gifts can be seen in many quality gift shops throughout Scotland as well as quite a few stores overseas. Some are inserted into decorative metal settings, the majority made from pewter and silver.” Some pieces are natural shapes like hearts and ovals. “Each piece is then filled and sanded to a very fine finish before being lacquered by hand. “The individual pieces are cut out on computer-controlled machines to different shapes,” Buyers said. Later, it is cut to produce the jewellery. The compressed block is then left to harden. The colours are mixed and soaked in resin before being put in a hydraulic press which squeezes the heather between two moulds at a pressure of up to 80 tons. He said that after the dyed stems have dried, they are made into blocks, which are normally composed of two colours. That is very important to tourists researching their Scottish heritage and it’s one reason our products sell extremely well to the American market.” You are getting your very own piece of Scotland when you buy a Heathergem. “The colours never come out exactly the same, which means Heathergems are special to the individual. It takes several days for the dye to penetrate the heather,” Buyers said. The heather is very hard, so the stems are put in a vacuum chamber before the dye is released. “The cleaned stems are then coloured with natural dyes. The heather stems are then dried before being shot blasted to remove the bark. It is normally burnt to allow new heather to grow, although the process of cutting the heather also allows new heather to grow up,” explained Buyers. “This is old heather which has lost its nutritional value to wildlife. The process of turning heather, that quintessentially Scottish plant, into jewellery and gifts begins when workers collect heather stems from the Perthshire hills. “The finished Heathergems display the natural markings of each individual heather stem, highlighted by the varying shades of the natural dyes,” said Stuart Buyers, Managing Director. An unusual form of Scottish jewellery and giftware made from natural heather stems, Heathergems make deeply personal presents as no two are ever alike, thanks both to the beautiful toughness of Scottish heather and the unique Heathergems treatment process.īased in Pitlochry in Highland Perthshire, Heathergems is a Scottish craft business and success story, which is gathering sales and attention around the world after quietly building focus and momentum over more than half a century.

Bowling shoes at fireside lanes11/19/2023 To thank the elders for their role in bringing the project to fruition, Ultrastar hosted an Elders Day event Tuesday, Aug. Cornerstone Architects of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, did the design and architecture work, and Ultrastar will manage the facility. Robins & Morton of Birmingham, Alabama, was the general contractor and Michigan-based Brunswick Bowling Products served as construction manager. The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians approved the project in April 2016, with ground breaking that July. The spacious deck opening from the Strikes Lounge offers seating, a fireside patio, an additional bar, a TV and - perhaps best of all - a sweeping view of the mountains surrounding Cherokee.Ĭherokee elders have been pushing for years to get a bowling facility, seeing the sport as enjoyable and accessible recreation for older adults. Great times.Only three candidates are running for the two Tribal Council seats representing the…įor those who want to get some air, there’s another option. Always taping up my thumb, I miss those innocent days. Sweet Mollie, she was like a mother to us kids. I bowled in the junior league on Sat mornings. There was also a glass candy counter where I would buy good and plenty licorice candy. I would bowl as long as the dimes kept coming. I distinctly remember a coin operated bowling arcade type of game that took dimes. My father and uncle bowled on a league here in the late 60’s early 70’s. Have you seen the Feature matchbook from Prima Bowl? I will be posting it on my Facebook page. I am sure the owners of Primas have no interest in bowling alleys. We always had the Monday night Bucktown/Logan Square bowling and bar league that bowled there for 25 years. I did it because of family sentimentality. But nobody will turn any place back to bowling other than me. We had an inept domain case that hand cuffed us from updating the bowling. We were not a dance place we always had bowling. As a kid I remember being a little intimidated by all the noise and activity when the lanes were in use. After getting the shoes, we’d cross Kedzie, get a soda or ice cream, then cross back to the bowling alley. When I needed shoes, my Mom would take me to the shoe store while Dad went bowling. Krametbauer Shoe store was on the other side of 25th Street. I also bowled in the junior league on Saturday mornings. I think Sam was the owner and took great care of the kids. Started bowling in a Saturday morning junior league back in 1961. Sam Guido and his son Rick would pick up my fee. Prima was my after school and evening home! Sam was a great guy who drove our team down to Peoria in 1967 for the State Tournament. I bowled in the Saturday junior league from 1960 to 1967. I used to work as a pin boy and then after I can back from the Army in 1969, i was a bartender. My grand parents n uncle rich have passed on. After the fire our family moved to las vegas. Across the street was a little hotdog stand. Wished i could get in contact with some of them. My grandfather used to own prima bowling alley. I hope so, it seemed like a very great place to hang out. Plus and PRO members have the option of uploading 1080p HD footage, which we recommend encoding at a bit rate of at least 10,000 kbit/s. When you have the option, choose a “variable” bit rate and set the target to at least 2,000 kbit/s for standard definition (SD) video or 5,000 kbit/s for HD. Important: Always choose "constant" frame rate instead of "variable" frame rate. If there is an option for keyframes, choose the same value you used for frame rate. If you're uncertain what frame rate you shot at, set your frame rate to either "Current" or 30 FPS. For example, if you shot at 60 FPS, you should encode your final video at 30 FPS. However, if your footage exceeds 30 FPS (frames per second), you should encode your video at half that frame rate. If you know the frame rate of your footage, it's best to encode your final video at the same frame rate. Vimeo recommends uploading with frame rates of 24 (or 23.976), 25, and 30 (or 29.97).
